This is what the Jazz Services website has to say about me,
Iain Houston:

Skills: Bandleader, Composer.

Instruments: Alto Sax, Soprano Sax, Tenor Sax

After an early start on Hammond organ in the blues bands of the 1960's Iain's creativity was directed to research and development in large scale distributed computing for which is the inventor of more than 30 patents. Common sense prevailed and Iain resumed his full time passion for playing contemporary jazz saxophone in 2000 after years as a semi-professional who'd played with Alan Skidmore and Tony Oxley and founded New Jazz Aliens with Lee Goodall in the 1980s.

My current project includes tunes by Joshua Redman (e.g. Stoic Revolutions) and Chris Potter (Megalopolis); Wayne Shorter (Infant Eyes); John Coltrane (Miles Mode) and Jerome Kern (a funky Yesterdays courtesy of Joshua Redman)

Right now (November 2004) I'm updating the website so come back in a few days if you'd like to find out more.

In the meantime, have a play with this animation of John Coltrane's Giant Steps.

Do also have a look at the sherbornejazz website where you'll find out about an impressive season of gigs.

Untill later! Iain.
